Taught Masters in Research Methods

Our MA in Geography (Research Methods, or MARM) provides training in both social science research methods and the approaches and techniques used in contemporary human geography. It can be taken independently, and is also often a key part of our Doctoral training programs

It offers the chance to learn in one of the finest centres of geographical research in the world and is delivered by staff at the very forefront of the discipline and also have a strong interdisciplinary orientation. The course is grounded in Geography and has strong links with, and support from, other departments and institutes at Durham.

A hallmark of our masters programmes are participatory and interactive approaches to learning. We offer small group teaching through workshops, seminars and practicals. We encourage and support you in your pursuit of personal research interests through independent research projects. These are developed collaboratively through one-to-one support and supervision.
