Judge In Traditional Court Robes Using the Gavel

Dr Tom Hamilton has published a new article with The Historical Journal, entitled 'A sodomy scandal on the eve of the French Wars of Religion'

The article deals with a sodomy scandal in sixteenth-century Morigny, which led in this instance to the death penalty being imposed. It also explores, however, the reasons why crimes were reported to the courts in this period, and wider questions of early modern criminal justice.

Tom Hamilton is an Associate Professor, and teaches (among other modules) a second year module entitled 'Crime and Culture in Early Modern Europe'
