Applied Mathematics

Amongst the practical applications which benefit from our research are those dealing with the formation of polymers, and the behaviour of fabrics (from curtains to semiconductor films).

Our current research interests include:

  • Magnetohydrodynamics: numerical simulation of magnetically dominated plasmas, topological analysis of vector fields, solar magnetic field modelling
  • Mathematical biology: Protein structure topology and dynamics, biologically active fluids and rheology
