Dates
Austral works on Southern Hemisphere semester dates. The semesters run from July to November then March to June. If students commence studies in July, this would be semester two for Austral.
Application Deadlines:
- First Semester (Mar - June) : October of the previous year
- Second Semester and full year (Jul - Nov) : 25 April of the current year
Programme Information
The normal study load of full-time students should be 15 credits of undergraduate courses per semester.
Academic Requirements
Austral's main language of teaching is Spanish. While they offer a very limited number of English modules, without exception, students must be able to meet the language requirements below. If you wish to study English modules in semester one before switching to Spanish modules in semester two please ensure your Durham academic department is happy with your modules choices, however, this should not be considered a workaround for avoiding meeting language requirements. Language Requirements
- For non-native Spanish speakers, a level of B2/C1 is expected for courses in Spanish. A certificate with international recognition (e.g. DELE, SIELE), taken no more than 3 years before application is required.
- DELE/SIELE exams are held a limited number of times per year with a requirement to book well in advance. You will need to provide DELE/SIELE certificate by Austral's application deadline of 25 April).
- For non-native English speakers, a minimum level of B2 (80 iBT TOEFL / 6.0 IELTS / IB Diploma / IGCSE / Cambridge FCE) is expected for courses in English. A certificate taken no more than 5 years before application is required.

Accommodation
Universidad Austral offers housing information for students coming to Buenos Aires.
Austral recommend that students reside in Palermo rather than in Pilar owing to the former's proximity to cultural experiences and a direct bus service between the campus and Palermo.
Other Information
- Austral requires the purchase of a local or international health insurance policy.
- An admin fee for the international welcome will be charged. This covers the costs of a number of events, inductions, tours and transport.
