John Snow College Access and Participation Fund

John Snow College and Junior Common Room welcomes applications to the John Snow College Access and Participation Fund.

Current registered Undergraduate and Postgraduate students are eligible to apply for a grant of up to a maximum of £250.

This fund is to enable students to participate in any aspect of student life which for financial reasons they may not otherwise be able to afford. This fund can be used to cover expenses for any College or JCR activity and University-run events or opportunities (e.g. society costs).

This fund can also be used to support students who have less money than anticipated due to unexpected financial issues or costs during their time studying at John Snow College.

Students can request support for the following:

  • Engagement in JCR clubs and societies
  • Engagement in Durham Students' Union societies
  • College gym pass
  • JCR bar nights and/or signature College events
  • JCR levy payments.
  • Access awards help towards addressing any unexpected financial difficulties.

John Snow College Opportunities and Futures Scholarship

John Snow College and Junior Common Room welcomes applications to the JS College Opportunities and Futures Scholarship.

Current registered undergraduate and postgraduate students are eligible to apply for a scholarship up to a maximum of £250. 

This scholarship aims to enable students to undertake aspirational activities that further their personal development beyond the requirements of their degree. Students should apply for this scholarship to seek funding for any activity that contributes to their personal, professional or academic development that would not normally be expected within their degree course.

For example, this scholarship can be applied to cover the costs of:

  • Learning a language
  • Attending a course to improve musical instrument skills
  • Funding membership to activities and clubs external to the University.
