Post-offer Visit Days - Wednesday 14 February, Wednesday 20 March, Saturday 27th April 2024
We're excited to welcome you to Durham University for our Post-offer Visit Days in 2024. Van Mildert College will be open between 9.30 am - 12.30 pm for you to drop-in and find out more about what our college has to offer!
When you visit us, you will have the opportunity to meet current students who lead and participate in many of the great things that happen here. We excel at sport, music and theatre but we also have an array of smaller societies including Debate Society, Fem Soc and Green Comm, all of which are ready to welcome you. We combine a relaxed approach to college life with the joy of coming together at formal dinners and celebrating achievement at major events such as the Michaelmas and Summer Balls. At Mildert, the vision of our JCR Events Committee is realised in the creativity of our events and our wonderful student-led support network complements the support offered by college staff.
The Van Mildert College Dimensions programme offers all students the opportunity to meet with fascinating speakers, debate hot topics and challenge their thinking. The Dimensions Programme is based around three themes: Engage and Inspire, Find your Future, and Wellbeing and Community. We welcome input from students about future speakers. Check out our College Instagram @vanmildertcollege to find out more! We hope that Mildert is the place for you!

Principal's Welcome
I’m delighted to welcome you to Durham University, and to Van Mildert College. Its colleges are one of Durham University’s great strengths – they offer a community on a human scale within the wider university, where you can feel at home in this exciting new chapter of your life. At Van Mildert, we are a friendly and fun, welcoming and challenging, inclusive and diverse community of students, staff, alumni and supporters. We’re home to 70 student clubs and societies, focussed on everything from arts and culture to politics, entrepreneurship and sports. We come together regularly as a community for formal dinners, and we host six outreach projects that make a positive difference in our region. Our students are proud of their college, and they never forget the friends they make here. I hope you’ll very much enjoy your visit, and I look forward to meeting some of you while you’re here.
