Diversity and Inclusion

Common Awards is working with TEIs to create and strengthen learning environments that celebrate diversity and inclusion in theological education. The aim of this work is to advance equality through inclusive practice and pedagogy and encourage a culture of learning where students can feel as though they are not only included but that they truly belong within theological education institutes. This section therefore highlights some of the key areas of ongoing work in diversity and inclusion in theological education – it is a space to share resources, events, and ongoing initiatives.

Diversifying the Common Awards Curriculum Project

In response to the 2021 report of the Archbishops’ Anti-Racism Taskforce, From Lament to Action, the Common Awards team has been working with the Church of England’s Ministry Development Team and TEIs to ensure that the curriculum encountered by those training for ministry involves substantial engagement with a wide variety of UK Minority Ethnic voices, and with a wide variety of voices from across the global church.
