Geography

The Futures Research Collective invite you to a discussion of Ian Baucom's 2020 book History 4°Celsius: A Search for a Method in the Age of the Anthropocene (eBook via Durham University Library). Discussion will be facilitated by Dr Andrew Baldwin, whose work draws on antiracist scholarship and post-colonial theory to ask how new forms of political community are coming into existence (or not) in relation to looming geohistorical phenomena like climate change and the Anthropocene. Andrew's review of the book can be found here on Cultural Critique Online. If you are new to the book, reading this review, Chapter 1 or the Coda offer the best way to get a sense of Baucom's proposals and prepare for discussion (without reading the whole book!)
