We encourage students to learn about indigenous culture & history, including Land Acknowledgement & the Treaty 7 Region. The Office of Indigenous Engagement and ii' taa'poh'to'p guide UCalgary on its path of transformation, & communicate its commitment & responsibility for truth and reconciliation.

Students would take a minimum of 3 courses and a maximum of 5 courses per semester. Courses average 3-4 in class hours a week with some science courses averaging 5 hours a week. There are 13 weeks in each semester.

The language of instruction at Calgary is English. If you are a non native English speaker you may be required to provide evidence of language ability.
International Student Services (ISS) provides advice and programs to support all international students adjusting to studies at the University of Calgary and to life in Canada. These services are in addition to university-wide support from counselling to diversity (detailed below).
UCalgary have a Wellness Center to help you enhance your emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. They also offer a wide range of student support from Sport, Housing and supplies to IT support and Career advice.
On campus housing is not guaranteed for exchange students. Accommodation is in high demand and fills quickly so students are encouraged to apply as early as possible. The online housing application opens in December for students starting in September. Approximate costs of on campus accommodation are $2600-3800 per semester.
Off campus accommodation is available but this is the responsibility of the student to source. Advice can be found on the UCalgary Preparing for Arrival webpages.
Exchange students must bring their own comprehensive travel and medical insurance from the UK to Calgary.
There are currently no summer opportunities at the University of Calgary.
Tracing its roots back over a century, the city hosts the Calgary Stampede: an annual rodeo, exhibition, and festival held every July. The ten-day event, which bills itself as "The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth" attracts over one million visitors per year and contributes to the city's identity.
