Founded in 1905 with just 23 students, NUS is the oldest higher education institution in Singapore. Today Singapore’s flagship university spans three campuses in Kent Ridge, Bukit Timah and Outram.

Application Dates

Intake Nomination deadline (by DU) Submission deadline for online application by students once awarded a GO place by DU.

All applications must be submitted online after NUS has received the formal nomination from Durham. The online application portal will be closed after the deadline. For more information, please visit the NUS website

Academic Information

A list of all modules available for exchange students is available.

Students must have at least an average of a "B" grade in the declared major of studies at home university for better chances of securing modules amidst the competition. No grade below "C" in the major of studies.

Requirements/Restrictions

Students are advised to be as flexible as possible with module requirements. There are no guarantees for modules as some are in very high demand and will be difficult to get onto.

Students should refer to the list of module restrictions before making any choices: NUS Registrar's Office (see "Course Related Matters").

In particular, courses in Architecture, Computer Science, Civil Engineering, Psychology and Economics are in high demand, and places are limited.  Students may have to be flexible in terms of study plans / modules taken.

Language Requirements

Classes in NUS are conducted in English except for foreign language classes. Nominated students from Durham for fee-waiver exchange at NUS are expected to be proficient in English in order to follow the classes. No English Language courses are available to exchange students who need to brush up on the English Language while on exchange.

Accommodation

On-campus accommodation at NUS is available to exchange students but is limited and is it NOT guaranteed. Students must indicate on the initial application form if they would like to apply for on-campus accommodation.
