Middle Common Room (MCR)

The Middle Common Room (MCR) is a group within the Junior Common Room (JCR) specifically catering to the needs to postgraduate and mature students at Stephenson College.

Members can enjoy all the benefits of being a member of the JCR, with the added opportunity to socialise in a dedicated space for them. Being a member of the MCR gives you the chance to meet fellow students in your college from across all the disciplines, and to engage in discussions about each other's research and research interests.

Belonging to our MCR is a unique experience to get involved in Stephenson College and the postgraduate community. The MCR holds weekly brunches on a Sunday where members gather to discuss the week’s events, what is in the news, and their own research; there are also weekly opportunities to engage in seminars, workshops, and social events such as quizzes and film nights. Once part of the MCR, you can contribute to our growing community by joining the team organising events and discussions, or by helping to coordinate conferences and dinners, this is a great opportunity for personal and professional development.

We look forward to welcoming you to our inclusive, international, MCR where we are sure you will find a home. Any enquiries regarding the MCR, please contact stephenson.mcr@durham.ac.uk or stephenson.enquiries@durham.ac.uk
