Gym and Sports
The College gym allows students to train and keep fit, right on their doorsteps. The modern gym has all of the facilities needed for students of all experience levels, including a choice of cardio and weight machines as well as a squat rack and bench and free weights.
Students can sign up annually for the gym and membership fees are reduced by 50% for JCR members. A gym induction is provided to all members when they sign up. Whether training for College and University sports or simply keeping fit, all members of the College can sign up to the gym.
Opportunities for sport and exercise can place a key role in the health and wellbeing of our student community and our facilities support this.
A shared Sports Hall located in Howlands Hall is used by various sports teams and societies. It’s also bookable by students who want to get together and play casually, for fun and fitness.
The Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) is an outside sports pitch, with football nets and basketball hoops. Many of the College inter-collegiate sports matches and varsities are played here.
Surrounded by open space and woodland, the Howlands site boasts a grassed sports area as well as an outside gym. Close to the Botanic Gardens and woods, there are picturesque walking routes, to take time out of your studies and explore the local environment.
