In 2020, Professor Stoutenberg moved to Temple University where he served as the Chair of the Department of Kinesiology in the College of Public Health, before moving on to his current role as the Head of the Department of Sport and Exercise Sciences (DSES) at Durham University.

Professor Stoutenberg’s research, grounded in implementation science, focuses on integrating physical activity into health settings and connecting at-risk patients to community resources by establishing clinic-community referral pathways. His work includes ongoing and recently completed projects in India, South Africa, Thailand, and the United States. Additionally, Professor Stoutenberg is a key contributor to Exercise is Medicine (EIM), a signature initiative of the American College of Sports Medicine.
