Asst. Prof. Dr. Ümit Gündoğan, Archaeology Department/ Department of Protohistory and Near Eastern Archaeology, Batman University, Turkey will be delivering a talk on his research into the Bronze Age settlement of Liman Tepe on Turkey's western coast.
The coastal region of Western Anatolia has very distinctive settlement patterns that differ from those further inland. They in fact share more in common with those of the Aegean Islands, Mainland Greece and Crete. It has therefore been suggested that there was a strong cultural and commercial relationship across the Aegean world indicated by architecture and commerce.
Dr Gündoğan will discuss the harbour settlement of of Liman Tepe on Turkey's western coast in relation to its facilitation of connections between Anatolia and the Aegean, and how it may have allowed for many of the commercial and cultural exchanges that occurred.
