College life at Trevs is exciting and varied. There are a few optional charges that will allow you to get fully involved in College life. You are free to opt-out of these charges if you wish.
Our JCR Levy is £130 and covers you for the duration of your undergraduate degree. You need to have paid your JCR levy in order to attend Junior Common Room events, join sports teams or societies, and vote in elections. Our MCR Levy is £35 and covers you for the duration of your undergraduate degree. You need to have paid your MCR levy in order to attend Middle Common Room events, join sports teams or societies, and vote in elections. Our Trevelyan Alumni Association is a one-off charge of £15. It gives you access to alumni resources as a student, including careers mentoring and events, and membership of our Alumni Association upon graduation. As an Alumni Association member, you can attend alumni events, access alumni tickets to College events, and receive our annual alumni magazine. Opt-out details can be found in the handbook.
Our Library Contribution is £10 per academic year and helps to cover the costs of the College Library. Opt-out details can be found in the handbook.
Here are a few more things that you might want to consider purchasing:
A gym membership can be purchased for £30 per academic year. The College gym is located on-site. It was remodelled in 2017 and has a great range of cardio and weights equipment. Alternatively, you can join the University gym for £140 per academic year.
Academic gowns can be purchased for £55 (new) or £35 (used, limited supply) during freshers' week.
Society subs are a requirement of joining some College societies. These subs vary by society and go towards communal costs such as hiring pitches, transport, and kit.
Bedding packs can be purchased for £35. These packs contain a duvet, duvet cover, pillow, pillowcase, and sheet, and are particularly useful for students who can only bring limited luggage to Durham.
