Congratulations and Welcome to New Postgraduate Students

Welcome from the Principal

Congratulations on obtaining a place at Durham University and Trevelyan College. This is an achievement of which you should be extremely proud.

I am looking forward to welcoming you to Trevelyan in September. You will have plenty of opportunities to get to know the team when you arrive – in the meantime, you can take a look at our College staff pages to find out more about us. Your first days at University will be very exciting but they will also have their challenges, so please do come and speak to one of us if you have any questions or worries, or if you would just like to chat.

Please make sure you read our induction webpages carefully and fill in all the necessary paper work in good time. This will ensure that your arrival is as smooth and   problem-free as possible. The Trevs Induction Checklist is a good way of keeping track of things you need to do before you arrive – just keep hold of a copy and tick off actions as you complete them. If you have any questions, please do contact us on or 0191 334 7001.

I would like to say a few words about the wonderful community that you are joining. Trevelyan is a vibrant, supportive and enabling environment where you will be valued, empowered to venture out of your comfort zone, gain new experiences to become future-ready graduates, and develop new skills for lifelong learning.

Finally, I would like to encourage you to fully embrace the many opportunities that lie ahead of you and truly explore without limits.

 Professor Adekunle Adeyeye

Principal of Trevelyan College

University student
Hello! I’m Rhys, the MCR president of Trevelyan College! The college and university are a wonderful place to study, socialise, and be part of an amazing postgraduate community. Trevelyan MCR is a small but close-knit and active community of postgraduate students with a vast range of subject knowledge, backgrounds, and interests. If you’re ever looking to chat with some other postgrads, I would highly recommend a visit to the MCR common room – this acts as the ‘hub’ for the MCR community and tends to be full of people studying during the day and chatting or playing various games during the evening! I am excited to meet you all. Any questions please email
